Theater Bites

Theater Bites is a collection of thoughts and musings on the subjects of theater, art and faith. Hopefully they will cause discussion and thought, so enjoy Thank you for using ChristianActors.org!

Yes, this is funny!

There was an e-mail that made the rounds a while back entitled: "You Know You Work in Community Theater If..." I vaguely remember this, and happened to stumble upon the website that claims originating it. As usual, these lists are painfully accurate and very funny. The list consists of about forty items and I will mention the ones that made me grimace and chuckle at the same time.

You Know You Work in Community Theater if ...

1) ...you've ever appeared on stage wearing your own clothes.
(More then once and I foresee it happening again!)

2) ...you've ever appeared on stage in an outfit held together with hot glue.
(Hot glue and duct tape, our best friends! I wore a hot glued hat and also a coat with glued buttons.)

3) ...you've ever appeared in a show where the cast outnumbered the audience.
(And the really painful thing was that this cast was only 5 people!)

4) ...you've ever gotten a part because you were the only guy who showed up for auditions.
(Whatever works, right!)

5) ...you've ever appeared on stage with people you're related to.
(All the time!)

6) ...you've ever heard the head of the set construction crew say, "Just paint it black - no one will ever see it."
(Actually ... I'VE said that!)
